The idea
Beyond the one-time Zotero import that exists today, a live two-way sync: connect your Zotero account once, and from then on a source you save in Folio appears in Zotero, and one you add in Zotero appears in Folio โ collections, tags, and notes included. Changes flow both directions without a manual re-import.
Why it matters
A lot of researchers have years of Zotero history and a lab that runs on it. A one-way import gets you started, but it forces a choice between the two tools. Real sync means Folio can be where you write and discover without abandoning the library you've already built โ and without keeping two copies in your head. Interoperability, not lock-in.
Where we are
Exploring. The one-time import is live now; a keep-in-step sync is the natural next step and part of how we think about deepening the research graph. The trickiest part is honest conflict handling โ deciding which side wins when the same item changes in both โ and we'd rather get that right than ship something that quietly loses your edits.
